I don’t know about you guys, but this week has been LONG.
What’s worse is that it wasn’t for any specific reason — it was the rain. The gloomy weather just made me wanna sleep all the time and I am so looking forward to the beautiful sunny days ahead ☀️
We have to much stuff to do like build new garden beds, harden off our seedlings, plant more stuff, put up the gazebo — the list never ends 🤪

Over the holidays we went to Dominican Republic with the fam and I am MISSING that hot sun 😩

Seriously, the people were so sweet and welcoming. We got to practice our Spanish with the staff and it was great getting to know some of them.

Coffee Shop Hop Series Episode 3☕️
Welcome to episode 3 of my coffee shop hop series! The next café we get to visit together is @casadimoni at in the Byward market 🥰
Located in the heart of the market, Casa Di Moni has a SERIOUSLY insane selection of cakes and gelato. Everyone looked AMAZING.
I went there for lunch and had a mozzarella/prosciutto panini and a cappuccino 🥪☕️
The cappuccino was well made, the two employees working were nice and the sandwich was pretty tasty!
I didn’t get to try one of the cakes or gelato. But maybe next time 🤩

Good Morning ❤️
In a world where we all use our phones to take pictures, there’s just something about using a camera that hits different.
It’s like reading a kindle vs. a physical book. The content is the same but the experience is different.
Maybe it’s all the settings at my finger tips that make using a camera so much more enjoyable, and being able to focus on exactly what I want to zoom in on.
I’ve had my Canon T3i for a LONG time now and it still does the job and fills that need to take pictures better than my phone ever could.

First May Monday ☔️
We’ve got a very rainy few days ahead of us.
These last few days have been mentally taxing.
Getting settled into a new job always takes longer than we think it will. I’ve been less consistent in the other things I like doing and thats bringing me down.
Mix that with some imposter syndrome and we’ve got one hell of a cocktail.
Add some gloom and you have yourself a recipe for some down days.
But summer’s around the corner and I’m excited to get back to gardening.
Sometimes we just need to be patient with ourselves.

Yesterday I has a really good conversation with one of the senior architects at work. She had a very poetic way of describing her views on architecture and architects in general.
Architecture is meant to be a very creative profession, but sometimes we get stuck in the clouds.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
Well, there’s a small problem with that quote. Sometimes you’re among the stars too much and nothing pans out. I’ve already seen this in my (still very early) career.
Architecture is also meant to be practical, we should design buildings that can actually be built, but without ever losing sight of our creativity as professionals in the field.
So in the words of one of our senior architects : “You should always have your head in the stars, but your feet firmly on the ground.”
Don’t stop dreaming and having big goals and aspirations. Stay driven. But be grounded in the things you do.
